The president of the Confederation of African Football, Dr Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that the 2021 African cup of Nations will kick off on January 9 2022 in Cameroon as planned.
The CAF boss made the confirmation December 20 after a visit to the Paul Biya Stadium in Yaounde alongside Cameroon's Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngo Ngo.
Dr Motsepe expressed his excitement to see Cameroon host Africa in January. He arrived Cameroon a day after a majority of African Football stakeholders voted for the 2021 AFCON to go on in Cameroon as planned in an executive committee meeting that took place December 19 in Quatar
This comes to silence rumours that have been circulating around the possible cancellation of the African cup of Nations to be played in Cameroon from January 9.
