Cameroon overthrows Stallions of Burkina Faso, secures 3 points at AFCON opener

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have inaugurated the 2021 Africa cup of Nations with a 2-1 win over the Stallions of Burkina Faso at the Olembe stadium in Yaounde.
The match that brought together top football dignitaries and thousands of fans kicked off at 5pm with both teams determined to secure a win. Barely 24 minutes into the game, the Stallions secured the first goal through Gustavo SangarΓ© crushing the hopes of most fans who had hoped Cameroon will secure the opener.
However, the Lions did not lose hope. Indomitable as their name is, they struggled to equalize but this only came through a penalty confirmed by the VAR after Bertrand TraorΓ© knocked down Zambo Anguissa in the box giving the Lions a chance to level the score with Vincent Aboubakar's shot at the 40th minute.
The joy of the Cameroonian fans would double just 3 minutes later as Vincent Aboubakar scored another penalty giving the Lions the lead .
The second half saw the Lions determined to maintain their lead and the Stallions to change the status quo. Aboubakar's third goal was rejected as offside and coach Conceicao substituted Toko Ekambi and Kunde Making for Maxim Choupo-moting and Njie Clinton while Burkina Faso brought in Mohammed Konate and Zanaka Songo.
Despite another 45 minutes of play, the scores remained unchanged ending the match 2-1 in favour of the Lions.
The Indomitable Lions have with difficulty humbled the Stallions of Burkina Faso. They temporary top group A with 3 points.

Defeating the stallions was indeed a grand opening demonstrated by the lions at Olembe.
