AFCON2021: Stallions of Burkina Faso overthrow Panthers of Gabon to book quarter final spot

By Bih Emmaculate The Stallions The stallions of Bukinar Faso have made it to the quarter finals after finishing 2nd in pool A with 4 points. The 90 minutes match played in limbe was a tussle as Bertrand TraorΓ© failed to give Burkina  Faso a lead at the 18th minute ,missing a golden penalty opportunity. The Aston villa premier league sticker again at the 28th minute of play ended the Zero tie with a curtain raiser goal giving Burkina Faso the lead all through the match untill Adama Guira of Burkina Faso returned the match to a tie with 1-1 tie at the 90th minute taking the match to an extra time and penalty shootout.  The game between the stallions and the Panthers was a furious struggle as Gabon aggressively picked up 8 yellow cards and 1 red card while Burkina Faso picked 6 yellow card.  After a intense penalty shootout, Burkina Faso emerged winners with 7 penalty goals against 6 penalty goals for Gabon. CAF names best coach, goalkeeper and player of the AFCON group stage.

The first award, that of best coach goes to coach Augustine Guavoen of Nigeria. appointed just 25 days to the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, coach Augustine Guavoen has served the Nigerian team in an explicit manner since his appointment, qualifying them for the knockout stage with all 9 points and 3 victories. YOSA signs 4 new players as they intensify preparations for the upcoming football season

The four new additions to YOSA Young sport Academy,  Elite one championship side has in the last few days welcomed players into their squad to reinforce the team performance before the start of the football seasons in Cameroon in February.   In preparation for the 2022 professional football season in Cameroon, YOSA has penned down contracts with new players beginning with goalkeeper Besong Chrysanus an 18 year old talented goalkeeper who helped qualify Rush FM FC to the northwest regional mini interpol. Goalkeeper Besong has signed a 3 years contract with Elite one championship side YOSA. Next to Goalkeeper Besong is Suh Neba Clinton who departed from Rainbow FC and acted as a pillar to Bafut Rangers and helped them  to qualify for  the Elite two championship. The confederation of African Football sets date ahead of the 34th edition of the AFCON

By Bih Emmaculate Ahead of the 2023 African cup of Nations to take place in cote d'ivoire, the Confederation of African Football has fixed a date for that event while the 2021 AFCON is ongoing in Cameroon.  This information was made known by CAF in their official website by president Patrick mostepe and other CAF officials   Based on the decisions taken by the African football governing body, the competition will kick start in June beginning from the 23rd till July 23.  unlike the current AFCON 2021 which started on January 9 in a time when other major European Leagues are still on going.   The change of date for the competition comes in order to isolate the AFCON competition to a period when other competitions like the premier League, La Liga, Champions League and other leagues will not deprive some players from participating. Salah gives Pharoahs hope following their 1-0 win against Guinea Bissau

Mohamed Salah of Egypt gave the Pharaohs the lead in an open match against Guinea Bissau played on January 15th 2022 with a well taken volley as they look to get their AFCON campaign back on track following Nigeria defeat.  Salahs 69th minutes goal assisted by Al sulaya comes a long way to help the Egyptian side as winning was a necessity for the pharaohs of Egypt to remain in the ongoing AFCON competition.  After occupying the last position of their group table due to a 1 nill defeat from Egypt on their first outing,Mohammed Salahs lone goal gives Egypt a victory over Guinea with a match outcome of 1#0 and equally ends him the man of the match. Indomitable Lions trash Walliards of Ethiopia 4-1 in a show of dominance

By Bih Emmaculate Lions on the pitch,(CAF online) The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have qualified for the next round of the ongoing African cup of Nations after trashing the Walliards of Ethiopia 4-1 in their second group A game at the Olembe stadium in Yaounde. The match which started off with both teams fully charged saw the Ethiopians net in the first goal just five minutes into play but this didn't discourage  the Lions who made several attempts at a comeback and soon equalized with Toko Ekambi's header.Both teams separated on a 1-1 draw at halftime. The second half was more action packed with the Lions teaching the Walliards a lesson in football. Just 8 minutes into the second half, the Lions took the lead with Vincent Aboubakar's goal curtsy of an assist from Fai Collins. Super Eagles soar, outclass Pharoahs of Egypt 1-0

 By Bih Emmaculate The Super Eagles of Nigeria have conquered the Pharoahs of Egypt 1-0 Jan 11 at the ongoing Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. The match which took place at the Roumde Adja Stadium in Garoua started with the Egyptians dominating the first minutes of the match but missed an opportunity to score at the 27th minute.  The Eagles took advantage of the setback and at the 30th minute, Kelechi Iheanacho gave Nigeria the lead with a brilliant shot into the the top right corner of the goal post. At halftime, the scores were 1-0 in favour of Nigeria.  The second half of the game was rather slow for the Egyptian side despite Mohammed Salah making an attempt to equalize which was twarted by Maduka Okoye. The Nigerians mounted a stiff defense and all efforts by the Egyptians to equalize proved futile till the end of the match. Presently, Nigeria temporarily tops group D with 3 points.
